HIEST researchers are focused on wide range of current higher education issues, practices and impact strategies in Finland, the European region, and the global landscape.
HIEST brings together one of the most international and transdisciplinary team in FIER, across all career stages, to discuss the relevant and timely developments in higher education. We support the career progression of our members, serve as a key hub for the intersecting networks of our team members while providing an intellectually stimulating environment for new ideas. Our central objective is to conduct state-of-the-art research that, at the same time, globally and nationally relevant and locally actionable, in particular focusing on:
- the changing relationship between higher education institutions and society
- analysis of transnational trends, national level reforms and local implications
- critical analysis of changing academic profession, academic work and careers
- the internationalization of higher education
- economics of education
