Teaching and Learning in Higher Education


Fast changes in society requires new kinds of learning and flexible competences. Thus, there is a need for universities to continuously develop teaching. Our research focuses on pedagogy, learning, generic skills and student participation. In this way we produce tools for renewing learning cultures and supporting students to become active agents in society.

The team examines teaching and learning in higher education from different viewpoints.  Research focuses on the following topics:

  • Teachers’ pedagogical thinking and students’ critical thinking 
  • ICT in teaching and learning  
  • Assessment and feedback practices
  • Pedagogical features of learning environments  
  • Student agency and the development of generic working life skills
  • Teachers’ and students’ experiences of teaching and learning in university
