Director

As the director of the Finnish Institute for Educational Research I aim to support my colleagues to reach the goals agreed together and to encourage all of us to aim for highest quality in our research and development projects.

Professor

I was professor in higher education studies 2001-2017 at FIER and was nominated by the Rector of the University of Jyväskylä as the director of the Institute in 2017. As professor my continuous aim is to develop the field of educational studies with the help of empirical, historical and theoretical studies.

Internationally, I was pleased to serve the international journal of Higher Education both as a coordinating editor, editor-in-chief and joint editor in chief.
