Current activities

I am working as a Project manager at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research.  In 2007-15 I worked as the Co-ordinator of the European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network, ELGPN which was established in Helsinki, May 7-8, 2007. The European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network assisted the European Union Member States and the Commission in moving European cooperation on lifelong guidance forward in both the education and the employment sectors. The purpose was to promote cooperation at Member State level on lifelong guidance and to propose appropriate structures and support mechanisms in implementing the priorities identified in the Resolutions on Lifelong Guidance (2004, 2008). The ELGPN was established by the Member States and the Commission is supporting the activities of the network in under the Erasmus+ Programme.

Part of my work is allocated to a research team which promotes more solid evidence base for lifelong guidance policy development. The team is also developing the National centre for lifelong guidance expertise, established in the university in January 2006. I am also an Adjunct associate professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences School of Social Sciences, Gimli University of Iceland, Affiliate Professor with the Faculty of Education and the Centre for Labour Studies at University of Malta,  a Research Associate with Florida State University’s Center for the Study of Technology in Counseling and Career Development and an International Fellow in the National Institute for Career Education and Counselling, NICEC. My PhD thesis (2006) focused on the use of ICT in guidance.

I am an Excecutive Board member and Vice-President of the International Association for Vocational and Educational Guidance, IAEVG , a Board member of the International Centre for Career Development and Public Policies, ICCDPP and a member of the European Training Foundation Editorial Board 2009-14.
