University of Jyväskylä

The University of Jyväskylä was founded as late as 1934 but it has a long tradition in teacher education long before that. The first Finnish teacher education seminar in Finland was founded in Jyväskylä in 1863. Nowadays, the University has seven faculties and is one of the most popular universities in Finland. There are over 15 000 students, 1 800 postgraduate students, and 2 500 teaching, research and other personnel. The University holds a national status as a Centre of Excellence in adult education.
