"Becoming a professional teacher: Novice teachers in schools and daycare institutions" Oslo 30th - 31th March 2011:

Oslo University College and Norwegian National Network for mentoring Newly Qualified Teachers in collaboration with Nordplus (NQT-COME) arrange an international conference in Oslo 30th - 31th March 2011:"Becoming a professional teacher: Novice teachers in schools and daycare institutions"
The goal for the conference is to create international arenas for the professional field and the university and college sector, focusing on the transition from education to profession as well as observing and following up new teachers in the profession. This conference will contribute to distinguish the Norwegian strategy for mentoring newly qualified teachers; a strategy that focuses on quality in mentoring and collaboration between the professional field and higher education. The conference will draw attention to mentoring newly qualified teachers in learning organisations: In which ways do the teacher educations and work places as learning arenaes contribute to mastering the profession?
The following themes will be central:
- culture for learning: newly qualified teachers professional development
- mentoring as a support system for newly qualified teachers
- quality in mentoring
- mentor education: best practices
The lectures in plenary will mainly be in English. Some of the parallell sessions will be held in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
