What are the aims of NQTNE-COME?

The aim of the project is to promote professional learning of newly qualified teachers in the induction phase through developing systems of support. One of the most promising methods to promote new teacher's professional learning is mentoring, in its various forms, including one-to-one mentoring, peer mentoring and group mentoring. The project focuses on sharing research based evidence and best practices of mentoring through a series of seminars and workshops for mentors, researchers and teacher educators.

What is NQT-COME?

NQT-COME is an international project (2009-12), launched by the NQTNE network and funded by Nordplus Horizontal programme. In the project, there are representatives of teacher education and educational research institutes, teacher unions and municipatities.

How does the project work?

The NQT-COME project organizes a series of seminars 2009 – 2012, based on the comparative research done by the research and development network Newly Qualified Teachers in Northern Europe (NQTNE). The series of seven seminars and workshops will be circulated in the five participant counties: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The seminars will be organized in collaboration with national teacher education institutions, municipalities and schools, and teacher unions. The aim is to develop support systems for NQTs through international sharing of best practices and comparative research work.
