Flying to Jyväskylä: If you come by plane to Jyväskylä, you will arrive to the Tikkakoski airport 21 km north from the city center.
The easiest way of coming to the conference place or to the hotels is to take a taxi (normal taxi: fare about 25 €, airport taxi ordered in advance 15 €). To order a taxi call +358 14 106 900. Airport taxis are ordered from the same number so, please, be precise about what you want when you make the order.
It can be possible to come to the town center by busses. Schedules are available at the Travel service (Matkahuolto). Use as place of departure Jyväskylä lentoasema (Jyväskylän mlk) and as destination Jyväskylä Travel Centre.
Flying to Helsinki: If you fly to Helsinki, you can continue by bus or train to Jyväskylä. The easiest way is to take a bus directly from the airport to Jyväskylä Travel Centre. The schedules are available at the Travel service site (Matkahuolto) (How to use this: Choose "all departure days", and write Helsinki to departure place and Jyväskylä to destination (you must write the ¨s over the a's!!) You will get a notice: 'Several places found, specify from drop down list or continue by pressing 'Search''. Chooce locations Helsinki-Vantaa international airport and Jyväskylä travel centre and you will find the schedules.).
If you prefer taking the train you can take, for example, the Finnair city bus to the railwaystation (shedules here). Other alternatives are shown on the site of the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. To get train schedules you can either use the VR Journey search or download the routeschedules from the VR long-distance services timetables site. The trains between Helsinki and Jyväskylä are shown in tables 10 (Separate files for different directions!!). You will arrive to the Jyväskylä travel centre (Matkakeskus), which is a combined train and bus station in the town centre at Hannikaisenkatu 20.
Flying to Tampere: If you come by flight to Tampere, you can use the links above to get train or bus schedules to Jyväskylä. In Tampere you can take the direct bus from the RyanAir flights to the railwaystation (approximate schedule here) or you can take the airport bus to the city centre (schedule and map here).
In Jyväskylä: If you come by train or bus to Jyväskylä, you will arrive at the Jyväskylä travel centre (Matkakeskus). After that you have some options:
You can walk or take a taxi to the conference place (street address Mattilanniemi building D) or to Hotel Alba (2 kilometres, taxi fare about 10 €).
You can walk or take a taxi to hotel Rentukka (3 kilometres, taxi fare about 10 €).
You can take bus number 18 or 18K to Kortepohja where hotel Rentukka locates. Also bus 25 goes close to Kortepohja (Laajavuori) but not so near to hotel Rentukka. The fare is 2,60 € and schedules are available here . The busses leave from Vapaudenkatu 42-47. Notice that after 23.00 the bus fare is 5,20 €!
