The aim of my doctoral thesis is to study Finnish students’ relations with their teachers looking at this from 9th graders (15 year old) point of view and also to determine what kind of “formal” and “informal” interaction there is between students and teachers in the Finnish school context. My study is part of a wider study called “Students’ engagement in school life” (STAGE). The STAGE project is a joint study of the Institute for Educational Research, the Department of Education and the Research Center for Health Promotion in the University of Jyväskylä.
